SOUND OF MUSIC

A trip to Salzburg HAS to include a "Sound of Music" tour!  Here is the VonTrapp's house and the lake where the kids were canoeing.

And, the trees from which the children were hanging, on their outing with Maria.

"I am sixteen, going on seventeen...."

"When you know the notes to sing....you can sing most anything!"

Footbridge they bicycled across

the beautiful gardens in the park where they were singing

The church where Maria was married

...and, from the outside

"Do-me-me, me-so-so, re-fa-fa, la-ti-ti"

AND.....ON TO SALZBURG

On our way from Vienna to Salzburg

Walkways on both sides of the river....Salzburg was refreshingly smaller than Vienna, though very busy with tourists

The street our hotel was on...the Bleu Gans (blue goose).  This street was for pedestrians only and had local shops, designer stores, and restaurants.

Our hotel room

Beautiful city and setting.  This castle is in the background of "Sound of Music"

MISCELLANEOUS SIGHTS IN VIENNA

Parks

U.N. Buildings

Papa & YiaYia, thinking of their grandchildren

Took us about 45 minutes to figure out the machine that rented us our bikes.  The bikes were heavy and clunky....but, the tree-lined path was beautiful!

What does a man do in the largest Swarovski crystal store??  Why, take pictures of Swarovski gun sites, of course.

THE MUSIC OF VIENNA

We knew that one of the things we wanted to do in Vienna was go to a concert.  Our first trip downtown, we found these distinguished gentlemen, who were more than happy to sell us concert tickets.

We visited 3 Mozart houses ( one in Vienna/two in Salzburg), one Beethoven house, and one Johann Strauss home.

Mozart's violin

Selfie before the concert.  We arrived early and got front row seats.

Did not allow pictures during the concert, but the concert hall was beautiful. The music was exquisite.  The main violinist played a stradivarius and played so beautifully, it was soul-stirring.
