CHEYENNE MOUNTAIN ZOO

Cassandra & I went to the zoo on Wednesday. We arrived early enough to beat the crowd. And...many of the animals were still awake!! We rode the tram up to the top (our zoo is built right into the mountain), and walked down, seeing the animals along the way. Cassandra was a trooper...I didn't even bring the stroller. What a fantastic morning!! The grizzly bears put on a show for us:
It's a little scary to think these guys roam through our yard.
We've seen the signs....
This moose was as comfortable in the shade as can be.
And, he had come turkey visitors. I was complimented
on my "gobble, gobble, gobble" imitation by a lady standing
nearby. :-) We have wild turkeys roam through our yard
occasionally, too.
Looks comfortable
Feeding the turtle
Cassandra almost walked right up to this peacock, but I
called her back...don't know if they bite or not....
She wanted her picture with the statue instea of the
real ones. :-)

FISHIN'

FISHING IN A DRESS??? Is that kind of like crying in baseball? :-)
Digging in the sand is just as fun, Papa
Well, okay...I'll try again....
Bringing in the big one
Pretty sure this expression is saying, "ewwww"
So, once the catch is made, it's on to the park
...and, removing sand out of the shoes before the picnic
...and, one small stop at Walmart to pick up sunglasses & a hat

HOLIDAY CHANGE OF PLANS

Our plans for 4th of July weekend included getting away to the mountains...to Jay & Laurie's. Upon arriving, we realized the phone service was out (& cell phones are out of range), so we didn't feel comfortable staying with no means of contact. Soooo...we made our trek back to the Springs and decided to make the most of the weekend. We had a couple dinners at our house, to use the food we had purchased for the mountain retreat.
I do believe that a certain Papa & Yia-Yia were the winners
of our competitions.
But, Cassandra found a better way to make sure the bean
bag would go through the hole:
